Fayetteville
Originally, Fayetteville was called Washington, as county seat of Washington County, but since there was a Washington in Southern Arkansas, the name was changed to Fayetteville Some people believe that Fayetteville got its name in honor of Marquis de LaFayette but others claim that it is after Fayetteville, TN.
The land was given to the Cherokees in 1817 but eleven years later white men settled and founded what today is Fayetteville
